Congratulations to Evan Johnson who was recently selected as one of 32 statewide finalists for the very prestigious 2023 WIAA Scholar Athlete Award! Only four boys & four girls from each of the four WIAA divisions were selected based on both athletic & academic achievement. Evan will be honored at the WIAA Scholar Athlete Banquet on May 7 in Wausau.

Congratulations to all FHS artists on a successful night at the Association of Student Artists exhibition. Karissa Smith & Brynn Worple each won a Judges' Choice Award. Brynn also took home the Best of Show Award for her series of oil paintings.
Based upon her portfolio review, Malia Nevil, a junior at FHS, was awarded a scholarship invitation to Concordia University of WI. Zoey LaMere (junior) & Brynn Worple (senior) were each nominated for scholarships to the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design.

Thank you to Clara McLain for donating $1500 to the Florence High School baseball team. The donation was made in memory of her late husband, Cliff McLain, who played a significant role in creating the "Red" Johnson baseball field. Cliff & Clara have enjoyed watching their children, grandchildren,& great-grandchildren play the great game of baseball on "Red" Johnson field.

Florence 4th grader and first year wrestler Stephen Mason Jr., accompanied by his family and his Coach Caitlyn Kelley, competed in the WWF Kids Folkstyle State Wrestling Championship in the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI on Friday, 3/24/23. High School Senior Kelley has made many trips to Madison during her wrestling career, but this was her first-time mat-side as Coach Kelley. Congratulations to Stephen Jr. on his remarkable season! He lost his first matches by only one point and then two points which unfortunately kept him off the podium, but he was able to avoid getting pinned all season! That's a huge accomplishment!

Thomas Carlson, a Wildlife Biologist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, was a guest speaker today in Language 7. 7th-grade students are writing a research-based policy paper on the Wolf Hunt in Wisconsin. Mr. Carlson came in to help explain how wolves are counted in Wisconsin and to discuss issues surrounding the recent designation of the wolf as a protected species.
