Superintendent's Message

Dear Residents of the School District of Florence County –

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) recently published school district report

cards based on student testing that took place during the 2022-2023 school year. Report Cards are

issued annually. Areas tested are English/Language Arts and Mathematics. Other areas reviewed are

absenteeism and whether students are on track to graduate.

Based on the 2022-2023 test results, the School District of Florence County exceeded

expectations in all areas. This is the second year in a row that the District exceeded expectations.

Congratulations to all of our staff on this accomplishment. It is something to be proud of and an

indication of the great work being done in educating our students each and every day.

As we move closer to spring, student testing for the 2023-2024 school year will take place.

Testing will begin on March 12 th with the ACT test being given to 11 th grade students. Grades 9 and 10

will be taking the Pre-ACT Secure test on April 3 rd . This will include English, Math, Reading and Science.

The testing period for the State Forward Exam will run from April 3rd through April 18 th . Subject

areas tested are English/Language Arts and Mathematics for grades 3 – 8, Science and Social Studies for

grades 4 and 8 and Social Studies for grade 10.

Regarding another matter, a video was recently developed which describes the many positives
